Not All Black Africans Are Scammers

Postby LightfromDarkness » Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:09 pm

I have been looking around this website, and I noticed there are some posters who paint Africa with a broad brush. There are scammers from Africa, but there are also scammers from many other countries. Not all scammers are Black Africans; there are many people of African descent who are upright and moral people, and I have met some of them myself in my own country in the USA.

I just want to put this out there because one common stereotype about Black people is that we are all criminals, and that's certainly not true. It's a harmful stereotype because many innocent Black people have been shot and killed, or falsely accused of things they didn't do, all because of this belief that Black people, especially the men, are evil crooks.

I know there are a lot of African scammers from Nigeria and other countries, but they are not the only ones, and I wouldn't say all Nigerians are scammers or generalize a whole group of people. There are many people in Africa who make an honest living, and who have survived a lot of harmful actions from colonization and racism.

So these were just my thoughts on this; I don't mean to offend anyone, but I had some thoughts about it because I'm very serious about overcoming racism in my own country. It's definitely important to report scammers, including the African ones, but we can do it without condemning African people altogether.

I don´t think anybody can claim that since 2005, anyone here has ever said that ;) personally I tend to stress the fact it´s gangs that are behind this profile registering and massmailing industry, because most who freshly learn about this subject matter (one may call them "victims", "near-victims" or "survivors") they still believe in "him" or "her", and that the person in the pictures matters, while it is rather "them overseas" who were doing all the chatting, typing and calling. The scammers, in their communities, are a tiny tiny and statistically totally negliable fraction of all citizens, who according to news reports condemn this too. Aditionally they have world-wide accomplices doing some of the later writing, some of the calling, the money receiving and money forwarding, fake-site building etc. All these groups combined, these are the ones who do fake-profile-scams, which is in what we concentrate here. :) There are other types of internet based love scams, which tend to stem not from West-Africa or Russia and Ukraine but Eastern Europe, the Far East or North Africa, or wherever, but they work with their own photos and webcams or even meet men in person as "pro-daters" and there are specialist advice-groups for them. Last, BTW this site was founded by an Ukraine-born woman ;) , who was disgusted about Yoshkar-Ola (Ukraine) having become known partly as one scam-hotspot since the first decade of this millennium.
Please try your best to block ALL your scammer´s still incoming messages and calls!

Hi, thanks so much for letting me know! I was a bit unsure, it's possible I read posts on a different website that stated all Africans were scammers, since I have been reading a lot about romance scams. I'm glad that you help others by showing who is really behind the scammer's image. I just wanted to be sure, because I've dealt with being judged just for being black, and it does hurt when people feel that everyone who is black is a criminal. But I'm glad that this site is focused on helping others no matter who the scammer is or where he, or rather they, come from. It's definitely important to condemn the scammers and stop them in their tracks, but where I come from, people often condemn others just because of their skin color. I'm glad that this website is different and that it's all about what's honest and right. :)

And it's definitely so important to have a website like this, where we can stop scams before they devastate the lives of the victims. I was almost scammed myself, and it was a very close call, so I'm glad this website is here to educate other people.

.... my 2 ct. to this. Its a fallacy that we can stop them( here). Otherwise page would already be closed. I this Scammer business is about millions and very lucrative.
Some People which come here think, that this here is a "Game and so funny". They forget that we deal here with criminals and the Death threats against us come from hard work.

Yeah, that's a very good point, a lot of scammers are probably very upset that they are being uncovered on this website. It's definitely not an easy job because they don't want to be exposed.
