Thanks to smart taxi drivers: Man prevents fraudulent transfer of money of 40,000 euros - 86-year-olds saved from immense damage

On yesterday, Monday, the police again found several telephone fraud attempts related to Corona. Outstanding here is a case in which a taxi driver reacted correctly and prevented a cash transfer of 40,000 euros. An 86-year-old elderly woman reported to the police and said that she had been the victim of a scam. At around 3:15 p.m., a fraudster reported to her on the phone as a doctor at the ******** University Hospital. He stated that her grandson had corona and was dying. He needs a vaccination of the not yet approved vaccine from the USA. This vaccination costs a one-off 8,000 euros, and her grandchildren need a total of five of the vaccinations. He would order a taxi for her so that she could personally collect the large sum of money from her bank. When the taxi arrived in front of her apartment, she got in and explained the matter to the taxi driver. Thanks to the attentive man, a transfer of money could be prevented. He directed the woman indicated that it was a fraud and that she should not collect money. He persuaded the pensioner to inform the police. Criminals are currently taking advantage of the corona pandemic to get the money of older people through various simulated scenarios. The police registered a total of eight such calls across the city on Monday alone. With all of them it remained with attempted fraud.
