A Thai woman who paid THB23 million to her online farang boyfriend is among the victims of online scammers posing as hot foreign men such as British Prime Minister David Cameron.

People of the UK, your prime minister is officially a heartbreaker in the land of smiles.

Pornnapat Chartphuek, administrator of a Facebook page called Thai Anti-Scam, yesterday filed a police complaint on behalf of the victims who came forward after they were scammed out of a total of THB29 million by their online lovers.

One woman alone gave her fake prince THB23 million.

On Thai Anti-Scam, a Facebook page created to discuss farang lover scams, Pornnapat said 15-20 victims come forward each day.

“Most of the scammers are Nigerians,” Pornnapat told the police. “They use Facebook and chat applications to befriend the victims. They use photos of good-looking farang or foreign politicians, like David Cameron, the British prime minister.”
