An American lady Declaring Herself to be Seeking a Serious Relationship

On June 22, 2016, a pretty lady called Mary Prieto on an app called SKOUT nudged me and asked, “are you single?” And I responded “yes”. She told me that “im single too but seeking for serious relationship with someone that is honest and responsible I’m not here for games” Then she told me she is a US soldier deployed in Afghanistan war zone hope you don’t mind dating a soldier”

She told me “I don’t come online often here due to the nature of my job here.” Then she asked me for my email and she gave her email to me. She told me her vacation is September then she will come and meet me. And she told me “we don’t receive or make call here for security purpose. And I don’t have person phone rather we only make used of our military cell phone. Please try to understand.”

I found there were a lot of spell error and grammar mistakes. I didn’t think she was an American soldier. But she shared with me her photos in military uniform. I doubted why she told me he couldn’t use personal cellphone, while she still could send me her photos to me. She replied, “I used my colleague phone to snap it. But now my colleague has gone to USA”. And then later that night, she deactivated her email.

I then emailed her and she replied attaching her photos. But her photos are not in high resolutions. We have communicated for six days until today. We also exchanged our photos. And I haven’t revealed any of my personal information to her except that I tell I am a MFA student and I am a disabled person. That’s all.

Can anyone tell me if she is a scammer?

First email:

Hello babe, i know you must have being expecting to hear from me
anyway i am going to tell you a little info about me and some of the
things I'm into, so let me get more personal about myself. Well i am
31 years,Am from Texas Austin am a soldier basically here in
Afghanistan war zone as i earlier informed you. though i am almost
done with my service down here .i stay with my parent all my Life but
unfortunately i lost them in a car wreck I would have to say that my
best overall quality is just simply my personality. I can say that I
don't know too many people if there is any that do not really like me.
I attribute most of that to my parents because I think they did a
pretty good job with me. Of course I would hope so being that I am the
first and only child..Its so painful that i lost my parent but i still
thank God for the position i am now and will always thank God cos HE's
always there for me. I am just a really nice person who will help
anyone who needs my help. I could go on,but you may think that I am
some kind of crazy girl.i am very fun to be with,i am easy
going,passionate and Open Minded,i basically Joined the site to see if
there are still reliable man out there,i know there are lots of
different people out there on the site,some are worth to be Trust and
Loved why some are not worth it..but all i just want you to know is
that i am a young girl who has lots to offer but i am only willing to
give my love to the right person who wins my heart I never speak
negatively about people, I take less and listen more to people and
does not jump into other people's affairs.I am a great giver when i
have it i give,because I so much believes in the Multiplied returns.I

got very tired here...Well am looking for a caring,honest,trustworthy
man that will love,respect and he will be faithful to me with all

cos I've been through a lot and have had both bad and good sides of
relationships though i do not always feel happy talking about that.
but i think i know what i want and i wanna be sure if you also know
what you want, because i don't wanna get hurt anymore... I'm seeking a

the first i will do if i meet you in person i will greet and embrace, kissing you babe

understand the situation of my job, honey we are here on a secret
mission, our duty is to fight all the US enemies around the world,
please do not be scared when i turn up to your email late.Honey thanks
so much for your concern and care, you made me feel and
understand that someone out there love and care for me...honey i really
feel honored and i must have to say thanks a million times. I really
Missed you so much and thinking much about you...Honey You're the best
man ever and that's all there is to it! Whenever I'm thinking of

And I replied with some questions:

As we have been communicating online for four days. We are deeply loving each other. But some of you is still mysterious to me. For example, which base do you serve? Which city of Afghanistan do you live? All I know about your current life is: patrol, emailing, and R & R. I need to know everything about you. Please be open to me! Don’t be shy! You are a soldier.

And today she deactivated her Facebook, Hangouts and Gmail.

But fortunately, I haven't given her information about where I live.
When I asked how she manage her bills. Here is what she told me:

Okay US government paid me 4000 dollar through my account but here i don't have access to bank transaction because they take good proper care of us here both feeding and every thing, i can't withdraw my money till i leave Afghanistan
That is the rules that guard us here.

You are dealing with West African scammers ( males mostly) operating from internet cafe which not only stole pictures of this beautiful woman but also her name. Please know there is no real soldiers seeking relationship online while on deployment. There is not internet in Afghanistan or Syria except for commanders headquarters and soldiers must wait sometimes long months to connect with family.
The letters we call here scam scripts and they reported and as well as still used in scams all over internet. They are filled with Nigerian wording and their horrible grammar which we consider a details how to recognize we deal with uneducated criminals.

Please do not send a broken penny, block and ignore without confrontation.

Please help to save other man and post deactivated email account, phone numbers, SKYPE ID , any fake documents. Thank you and be safe online.

But for one thing I am not clear. Why she use Hangouts and Facebooks to chat with me, and one day I requested her that if I could use video call her, she said that she only could use voice call. And she voice called me, then we chatted for seconds. During chatting, I heard my voice echoed in her room. So I turned it off.

Did the scammer hire a lady to call me? And each time she chatted with me on Facebook is the time that she told me she was in a break between petrols.

I though it was real. And one more thing I am confused - Why she needs my pictures?

Scammers have a whole arsenal of electronics, some of them are voice changing equipment where they can pick female, male , child voice with different levels of pitch or accents.
The scammer who defrauded me used the story that he was raising alone 6 yo boy. I spoke with what I thought boy many times just to find out letter it was the scammer ...youngest in the gang with highest pitch voice.

Please know that scammers also steal victims videos and remake them to their scam business needs. If they reject talking to you via webcam means they don't have this photo victim videos. Please do not believe anyone online to fast. I have a nice and nephew in army which were deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan and they were hardly ever able to make a calls. No soldier will sit online and send those tenthly novels ...that only scammers do.

They request your pictures because they want to sound like interested in you or just want to blackmail you letter when the scam ends. That's why we strongly urge you to stop as of now.

Hello, Igulinka,

Thank you for your telling me! Now I have realized that that man behind the email is a scammer.

The scammer has not told me anything about her contact. She just email telling me that she loves me and attached her photos and want mime to swap. There is no such her contact and I found she block me in Hangouts and deleted her Facebook. Now there is not her profile in the Facebook.

New update. These same pictures and scam has hit Tinder..They are using Rose Prieto. Always the same last name due to the uniform. She can never call and is asking for address to send money found in Afganistan stolen from Taliban. Daters beware.
