There are many men, straight and gays, get scammed for romance scams too but female victims still outnumbers male victims.
For investment scams (same online fraud), the victims are mainly male.
When we look at the romance scam only it looks as if women are prone to get scammed more than men but over all scam cases males victims outnumber female victims.
On separate note I hate when media uses cliche "lonely heart" for describing victims for romance scams. Quite many victims are indeed NOT lonely with broad social life and friends and some even have boy friends, looking for love online. We all use Facebook, we all use every online platform for communication and get connected with others so why should media still wrongly portrays the victims LONELY?
(It's a rhetoric question: the reason why they do is to try engineering the story to sound more scandalous)
